Watercolours

I find watercolour one of the least forgiving media to work with, but I enjoy the challenge. Glazes, washes and the special quality that can be achieved, often by accident, make it addictive. It is a very suitable format for landscapes. It’s quite quick too, but you can’t cover up any mistakes! You just have to start over. Cleaning up is easy though and it is much easier to look after paints and brushes – a watercolour set is always handy for foreign trips. There are a few examples below. Watercolour sketches can also be a good starting point for more detailed paintings done in the studio. Please click on image to see entire painting.
